Trader Psychology
One of the most important yet often overlooked steps on the road to becomming a successful trader is understanding the psychological pitfalls every aspiring trader suffers from. This subject is handled extensively in books "Trading in the Zone" by Mark Douglas (which I consider a must-read!) and on sites like the one of Brett Steenbarger.
Below are some of the pitfalls I experienced personally.
Money Management
I have read somewhere that the biggest difference between successful and unsuccessful traders is not their ability to read charts but their ability to manage risk. And although some people might find this strange, this statement makes a lot of sense to me. Risking only a certain percentage of your capital might reduce the possible profit, but will keep you in the business longer.
